Possible Distributors-

I think that our film would be distributed for a national audience rather than a niche audience because other similar, Horror Thriller films have been released for a national audience and have done extremely well because a wide range of people like to watch horror films. For Example, as you can see in our other research, films such as: Silence of the Lambs, Insidious, The Last Exorcism etc have become some of the most popular horror films that have been released recently.

Our first option of distributors could be New Line Cinema who are quite well known for distributing horror films, such as The Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984 who also produced the film and its five sequels; Freddy's Revenge, Dream Warrior, The Dream Master, The Dream Child. They have collaborated with Warner Bros. Pictures who helped them distribute the famous film; Friday t

he 13th.

Another film which they produced and distributed is the film Se7en which is extremely similar to our film which is why New Line Cinema would be an appropriate company to distribute our film because they have had a lot of experience when releasing horror films.

Our second option for a distribution company could be Film District who have distributed Insidious and Don't be Afraid of the Dark. Both of the official posters of the

films are very good and you can immediately tell that they are horror films because they use dark colours to suggest danger and a sinister storyline but it doesn't gave away the main storyline which is what we need to have in our film posters and so Film District would be another appropriate distribution company.

If we were to release our film to a niche audience, our independent distributor could be Optimum, who have distributed over 200 films a year British, Irish and American Independent films with a low budget and so they are quite well known within distributing films for niche audiences. However, i would say that our film is more aimed at a national audience rather than a niche audience but if we were to release it using an independent company Optimum would be suitable.

Overall, i think that New Line Cinema would be the most beneficial distributors because they have distributed a large amount of horror thriller films that are similar to ours and so they have had plenty of experience when designing eye-catching posters and trailers. Furthermore, because they are well known distributors people are more likely to watch our film if they are familiar with the work of the distributors because they will know the types of that they have distributed and so they have a fan base already.
