Music and Sound

The music in our film is a very big part of the editing process. We need to make sure we pick the correct music and sound so that we get the correct atmosphere and effect we want our audience to feel when watching it. We want our film to sound very natural, by been able to hear footsteps, doors opening and closing etc and so we don't want music that is too over powering and takes the attention away from the film its self.

Ideas for music;
  • Subtle
  • Mysterious
  • Tense atmosphere
  • No beats
  • Possibly Piano
  • Sounds weak
  • Minimal

A good example of the type of music we would like, that already exists is 'To kill a mockingbird' This would be good for our film because it has a  subtle, mystery effect that is what we are wanting.

Another example is in the opening titles to 'Se7en' this sound very creepy and scary and would be good in our film because it would give a sense of not knowing what was going to happen next. However is is very powerful and strong with lots of beats so itisn't exactly what we are looking for.

We decided on music called 'Void below', we found it on, http://www.audionetwork.com/show-production-results.aspx?stype=4&keywords=void+below
It sounds very minimal as it only uses a few notes at a time and has long pauses between each part. It only uses a piano which help it sound more mysterious and gives and intriguing sense.
